| Updated 2009.12.22 These are links to technical information, and free or inexpensive tools for graphics, video, internet, and web design, most of which I personally use.Software Tools  FileZilla - Free FTP Client  AutoGK - DVD Ripping Utility  CamStudio - Free recording software (alternative to Snag-It)  CinemaForge - Application that can convert FLV files to AVI, MPEG, etc.  File Renamer Basic - Mass File Renamer  IrfanView - Image Viewer  Net Transport - supports downloading of real media streams to file for later viewing  STGThumb - Thumbnailer  StreamTransport - supports downloading of Hulu videos to file for later viewing  TMPGEnc - MPEG encoder with video editing and conversion features  TrueCrypt - Free open-source disk encryption software  VirtualDub - video capture/processing utility  VirtualDubMod - another video capture/processing utility based on VirtualDub  viloader - Has browser plug-ins for downloading videos from Video Google, Youtube, etc.  MediaCoder - Can convert FLV files to AVI files in batch. Firefox Extensions  Ad Block Plus - Some sites are barely useful without this.  Download Helper - Download Flash-based videos (e.g. from YouTube) and other content.  Download Status Bar - Track your downloads without the annoying "Downloads" window.  Google Toolbar - My favorite feature is the "search only on the current website" button.  Image Toolbar - Simplifies the saving of images from web pages.  NoScript - Protects against malware and just plain annoying JavaScripts.  SkipScreen - Automatically clicks the download button on those annoying wait pages. Services  ImageShack - Free image hosting for posting images to message boards, etc.  RapidShare - Free file hosting and sharing Information  Download Videos - How to download, save, and convert videos from YouTube, Google Videos, etc.  KeepVid - Another site that lets you save videos from the video sharing sites.  VideoHelp.com - Directory of information about digital video, including forums, tools, and how-to guides. |
